Why don’t you just meet Maren Morris in the middle…of a brand new tour? The country star revealed today she’s hitting the road on her headlining Girl: The World Tour.
The global trek will kick off March 9 in Chicago for a two-month run of U.S. shows. Morris will make stops in major markets like Seattle, Atlanta, Houston, Nashville, St. Louis and New York before wrapping in Detroit on May 11. From there, she’ll jet overseas for brief European leg spanning a dozen shows May 17-31. Girl: The World Tour will conclude with a stretch of shows in New Zealand and Australia this August. Cassadee Pope and Rae Lynn are pegged to join the tour in support on select dates.
The tour comes in support of Morris’ forthcoming sophomore album and named for lead single “Girl.” Morris dropped the guitar-driven female empowerment anthem shortly after the tour news. While she has frequently teased her latest record, no official title or release date have been announced yet. The new LP is her highly anticipated follow-up to 2016’s Hero. Her critically-acclaimed debut earned Morris a trio of Top 10 hits, including the Grammy-winning anthem “My Church.”
It is gearing up to be quite a busy year for the 28-year-old singer-songwriter. She’s nominated in five categories at next month’s Grammys, both for country recordings and “The Middle,” her No. 1 dance collaboration with Zedd and Grey. In addition to the tour, she also has several festival appearances on her plate this summer. She was recently named as a performer at Bonnaroo, and will also appear at Chicago’s LakeShake Festival and Wisconsin’s Country Jam, among others.
