Are you itching to go to the final games of this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament? Now may be the perfect opportunity to score tickets. With just over 24 hours before semifinal action kicks off in Minneapolis, Final Four ticket prices have dipped since last week, giving last-minute buyers big savings.
Currently, All Session passes into US Bank Stadium for Saturday’s semifinals and Monday’s championship start at $462 on Ticket Club – a $116 drop from only two days ago. Tickets for Saturday’s match-ups of Virginia v. Auburn and Michigan State v. Texas Tech have steadily declined since Monday, and currently start at $261 apiece. With the bracket narrowed down and many of the early-favorites out, the potential championship match-ups aren’t stacking up to be hot. Tickets to get into the tournament’s deciding game have consistently dropped all week.
See how the get-in Final Four ticket prices have trended downward since Monday in the graph below.
The dip in Final Four ticket prices come after they spiked following the Elite Eight round. The ousting of three No. 1 teams last weekend certainly made for an unpredictable bracket – and therefore generated more buzz around who could take home the title. But with the dust settled and the bracket set for a final showdown, filling the stands takes top priority, which is far more achievable with lower Final Four ticket prices.
While it may be too late to get tickets for those requiring lengthy travel, there will be plenty of fans from across the country at the tournament’s exciting conclusion. Our geographic consumer data found that this year’s Final Four ticket-buyers hail from 37 states, including those represented by this year’s Final Four teams. Of the schools left standing, No. 3 Texas Tech might have the most support in the stands. Texas-based buyers made up 54 percent of the sales made by each school’s state. Michigan State earned 28 percent of that pie, a seemingly low percentage given its close proximity to Minneapolis. Alabama locals are hoping to see No. 5 Auburn take home the title, and they accounted for 12 percent of sales. Despite Virginia being the lone No. 1 team left standing, fans aren’t convinced this is their year. Virginia buyers took up only 6 percent of Final Four sales.
Getting last-minute Final Four tickets may bring more savings to consumers. However, our sales database has found that this year’s average Final Four ticket prices are on par with recent years. Championship game tickets have cost an average of $257 – a three-year low – while All Session passes and semifinal tickets are slightly up from 2018.
