In honor of their 40th anniversary, The B-52s are hitting the road on a new world tour, set to launch this summer.
The trek will kick off June 21 with a month-long stretch of European shows in Germany, Spain, the UK and more. The band’s North American run will launch August 1 in Costa Mesa and extend through September before wrapping in New York. Along the way, The B-52s will make stops in New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Seattle and Toronto, among other top markets. The new-wave group will aptly visit 40 total cities worldwide on the milestone tour. Special guests OMD and Berlin will be joining in support.
Prior to the tour’s launch, the B-52s have also booked a trio of festival appearances next month. Fans can catch them perform in West Palm Beach at SunFest May 4, Houston’s Kaaboo Festival May 12 and Nashville Boogie during Memorial Day Weekend.
In addition to their upcoming tour, the band has two exciting projects in the works. They will be the subject of a new documentary produced by Fred Armisen and director Craig Johnson and are set to release their first-ever memoir in 2020.
Over the course of their 40-year career, the group – comprised of Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson and Keith Strickland – have released seven studio albums. Their biggest mainstream success came throughout the 1980s with hits like “Love Shack,” “Rock Lobster,” “Roam” and “Planet Claire.”
