As the US Open reaches its conclusion after several exciting twists and turns, tickets are seemingly becoming less in-demand. The price of admission into the men’s and women’s singles finals have fallen after initial sales spikes and mark lower 2019 US Open ticket prices across the board.<\/p>\n

The tournament had a remarkable first week filled with pleasant weather, record attendance, stunning upsets and plenty of buzz-worthy moments. Even more noteworthy is that fans could take full advantage of the action for less money than usual. 2019 US Open ticket prices dropped across the board throughout the first four rounds of play compared to last year. It continues a larger trend of declining prices<\/a> since 2017.<\/p>\n

According to Ticket Club sales data, the average price of admission into Arthur Ashe Stadium – the Open’s main show court – fell below last year’s figures for three of the first five days of the tournament. Secondary show court Louis Armstrong Stadium saw the average ticket price across all sessions fall nearly 10 percent from last year, costing roughly $191 in 2019 versus $212 a year ago. The 8,000-seat Grandstand Court saw sizable drops in admission cost this year with the exception of Day 1.<\/p>\n

Even Labor Day Weekend, which typically marks the busiest and pricier time to visit the fortnight, saw a slight dip in ticket price. Arthur Ashe Stadium tickets across the holiday weekend fell on average by just over 2 percent, while a 4 percent drop was the case for tickets to Louis Armstrong Stadium. Grandstand ticket prices saw the biggest tumble of the tournament, with Labor Day Weekend tickets costing 20 percent less than they did in 2018.<\/p>\n

The early part of the tournament has been kind on fans’ wallets, but those flocking to New York for the final rounds initially paid a pretty penny. Semifinal sessions slated to take place this Thursday and Friday have sold tickets for exponentially higher than last year with the championship match tickets seeing early spikes as well.<\/p>\n

The women’s final has the potential for either a first-time Grand Slam winner to break through and hoist the trophy or see Serena Williams tie Margaret Court’s record of 24 major titles. That match kicks off championship weekend with the average ticket selling for $575, more than double what tickets cost for the 2017 women’s final. The men’s final drew even higher preliminary sales with many fans anticipating a historic clash between longtime rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, marking their first-ever meeting in Flushing Meadows. The possibility of that storyline unfolding caused tickets to skyrocket, costing fans a staggering $914 on average. Despite early sales causing the jump for the final sessions, current costs to get in this weekend are noticeably down. The base price of admission for Thursday’s women’s semifinals stands at $99 while fans can get into the Saturday final for $192. Men’s session tickets have dropped drastically overnight following Federer’s five-set quarterfinal loss at the hands of unseeded Grigor Dimitrov. On Tuesday, men’s semifinal tickets started at $324 and fell to $132 in less than 24 hours. Prices for the men’s final had an even steeper drop, going from a $456 minimum on Tuesday to the current starting price of $173.<\/p>\n
