The full 2019-20 NBA schedule is not officially public, though the league’s opening few games and holiday slate have managed to leak, conjuring up plenty of excitement in the process. Ahead of the season’s start, here are the key things expect across the league.<\/p>\n

The 2019-20 NBA schedule will begin one week later than usual, with opening night set for Tuesday, October 22. Per usual, the league’s defending champions will kick off the season, meaning Toronto Raptors fans should mark their calendars to see them launch their campaign at home against the New Orleans Pelicans. The match-up not only marks the debut of No. 1 overall draft pick Zion Williamson in the Pelicans jersey but the Raptors first game without NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard on the roster.<\/p>\n

Leonard, who signed with the LA Clippers fresh off his championship run, will also play October 22 in a must-see rivalry game against LeBron James and the Lakers. The clash also pits big names like the Clippers’ Paul George against the likes of Rajon Rondo, DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis on the Lakers roster. The cross-town rivals will play each other three more times throughout the season, including a Christmas Day match-up that is one of many star-studded clashes scheduled.<\/p>\n

The NBA’s Christmas Day lineup is a gift for fans. It features blockbusters like: Williamson and the Pelicans taking on the Nuggets in Denver; the Celtics battling the Raptors in Toronto; a match-up between the Bucks and 76ers in Philly; and finally, the Rockets visiting the Warriors.<\/p>\n

Given its late start, the season will conclude a week later than previous years. April 8 will serve as the final day of the regular season with the 2020 NBA playoffs set to begin three days later. The league’s annual All Star Weekend will occur February 14-16 at Chicago’s United Center.<\/p>\n
