His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/shows\/springsteen-on-broadway-tickets\"><em>Springsteen on Broadway<\/em><\/a> series will receive a special Tony Award this June, it was announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While announcing the full list of this year&#8217;s Tony Award nominations, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/shows\/hamilton-tickets\"><em>Hamilton<\/em><\/a> star Leslie Odom Jr. recognized <em>Springsteen on Broadway<\/em>&#8216;s achievements, calling it a &#8220;theatergoing experience of extraordinary dimensions.&#8221; It has been widely praised from fans and critics alike, with many calling the raw emotion Springsteen exudes while telling compelling stories a definitive highlight.<\/p>\n<p>Rumors have been swirling about whether The Boss would perform at the June 10 award show, and while nothing is confirmed, news that he&#8217;s a Tony winner certainly makes for favorable odds that a victory performance can be expected.<\/p>\n<p>The honor puts Springsteen closer to achieving EGOT status, given to those who&#8217;ve received wins at each of the entertainment industry&#8217;s four major awards: Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tonys. He received an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1994 for &#8220;Streets of Philadelphia&#8221; from <em>Philadelphia<\/em>. Over the course of his career, Springsteen also collected 20 Grammys, his most recent win being from 2010. Should he reach EGOT status with a future Emmy win, he&#8217;d join the likes of fellow winners Barbra Streisand, James Earl Jones, Audrey Hepburn, Liza Minnelli and Quincy Jones, among others.<\/p>\n<p><em>Springsteen on Broadway<\/em> has been a bona fide box-office smash since it opened last fall. The rocker <a href=\"\/blog\/bruce-springsteen-heads-to-broadway\/\">originally booked an eight-week stint<\/a> at the 975-seat Walter Kerr Theatre, allowing him the opportunity to perform songs from his vast catalog in a far more intimate setting than he&#8217;s grown accustomed to. Fans filled the venue every single performance, leading Springsteen to extend the residency ten more weeks. He&#8217;s continued to add shows by popular demand, and is currently set to be a Broadway mainstay through December after a total of 236 performances.<\/p>\n<p>Given the show&#8217;s immense popularity, scoring tickets proves to be rather costly for fans. Ticket Club data shows that the average <em>Springsteen on Broadway<\/em> ticket runs between $1,500 and $1,600, with the cheapest-sold ticket on record coming in at just under $500.
