August 2024 brings a new lineup of music festivals across the U.S. and Canada. Whether you’re a rock, jazz, electronic, or pop fan, this month offers an array of festivals showcasing some of the most electrifying performances and diverse musical acts. From iconic returning events to brand-new festivals, Ticket Club created a roundup of the must-attend music festivals this August.
Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza is set to run from August 1 to 4 at Chicago’s Grant Park, with over 170 bands scheduled to perform across eight stages.
This year’s lineup features headliners SZA, Tyler, The Creator, blink-182, The Killers, Future X Metro Boomin, Hozier, Stray Kids, Melanie Martinez, and Skrillex. Other notable acts include Deftones, Tate McRae, Conan Gray, Reneé Rapp, Victoria Monét, Teddy Swims, Walker & Royce, Lola Young, and TV Girl.
Additionally, Lollapalooza announced the Main Stage will be powered entirely by a hybrid battery system, covering all audio, lighting, video, and stage production.
Newport Jazz Festival
Newport Jazz Festival is getting ready to celebrate its 70th anniversary in Fort Adams State Park from August 2 to 4. Slated to headline the festival are André 3000, Nile Rodgers & Chic, and Kamasi Washington.
Scheduled to take the stage is Dinner Party – a collective featuring Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, and Kamasi Washington, blending jazz, hip-hop, and R&B. Rising stars like Laufey, Corey Wong, and Samara Joy are also slated to perform.
Osheaga Music and Arts Festival
Taking place from August 2 to 4, the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival is set to return to Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal. Slated to headline are Green Day, SZA, and Noah Kahan.
Festival organizers noted they are focused on showcasing homegrown talent, a priority since the festival’s inception. Other acts to take the stage include Ontario’s TALK, Prince Edward Island indie-rock band Alvvays, and Quebec’s Clay and Friends, along with Montreal hip-hop trio Planet Giza and Felix Award winner CRi.
HARD Summer
HARD Summer returns with an electrifying lineup, taking over Hollywood Park in Los Angeles on August 3 and 4. The 2024 edition is relocating to Hollywood Park, a 300-acre complex across from SoFi Stadium.
This year’s event is set to feature headliners Disclosure, Jamie xx, Nelly Furtado, and Subtronics. The festival will kick off on Saturday with performances from REZZ, Deadmau5, REZZMAU5, Zeds Dead, and more.
Sunday will see performances from Chris Lake and FISHER as Under Construction, Dillon Francis, Sofi Tukker, and others. Notably, HARD Summer will host the summer’s only US festival performance from Major Lazer and a special appearance by Kerri Chandler.
Hinterland Music Festival
Hinterland Festival is set to return to St. Charles, Iowa, from August 2 to 4 at the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater.
Kicking off the weekend, Hozier will take the stage on August 2 alongside artists like Orville Peck, Hippo Campus, and Sam Barber. The festival’s second day, August 3, will see Vampire Weekend headlining and Lizzy McAlpine and Charley Crockett sharing the stage.
Noah Kahan is scheduled to close the event on August 4 with support from acts like Mt. Joy and Ethel Cain. Festival goers can also look forward to a variety of activities and food options.
Outside Lands Festival
San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival is slated to take place August 9 to 11 at Golden Gate Park. This year’s event includes headliners Tyler the Creator, The Killers, and Sturgill Simpson, alongside a special country set by Post Malone.
Also slated to take the stage are Grace Jones, The Postal Service, Kaytranda, Jungle, Christ Lake, and Gryffin, Reneé Rapp, Victoria Monét, The Blessed Madonna, Teddy Swims, and The Lemon Twigs.
The festival is set to also host additional entertainment options, such as Beer Lands, Wine Lands, and an open-air dance club, “Dolores.”
Fool in Love
The inaugural Fool In Love Festival is getting ready to transform Hollywood Park, adjacent to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on August 31. Headlining the event will be Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. Scheduled to join them are Santana, Al Green, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Gladys Knight, and Chaka Khan.
Additional acts such as The Isley Brothers, Charlie Wilson, Eric Burdon & The Animals, The O’Jays, and The Jacksons are scheduled to take the stage. The festival is also slated to feature Smokey Robinson, Durand Jones & The Indications, Brent Wood, Barbara Mason, The Sacred Souls, and Evelyn Champagne King.
Rocklahoma
The 2024 Rocklahoma Festival is getting ready to take place from August 30 to September 1 at the Rockin Red Dirt Ranch in Pryor, Oklahoma. The three-day event is scheduled to see performances from Avenged Sevenfold, Evanescence and Halestorm on Friday.
Saturday is set to see Disturbed headlining the night, accompanied by A Day to Remember and Skillet. As the festival wraps up on Sunday, Slipknot will take the stage, joined by Lamb of God and Mastodon.
The lineup also includes performances from Anthrax, Clutch, Nothing More, Kerry King, Coal Chamber, Badflower, Pop Evil, and many others.
