In honor of the 30th anniversary of their debut album, The Black Crowes are coming together for a reunion tour next summer. The upcoming excursion marks their first live shows since 2013 and will feature their debut record Shake Your Money Maker, performed in its entirety.
It all kicks off June 17 in Austin. The extensive itinerary will stretch three full months before the band wraps up in Los Angeles on September 19. Along the way, they’ll play nearly four dozen shows in markets like Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Detroit, Buffalo and Tampa. There is one Canadian stop planned in Toronto, as well as a two-night stint scheduled at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheatre.
Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson will once again share the stage as the band’s founding members. Their recurring familial rifts caused issues in the group over the years, and eventually led to their official split in 2013. The two were not been on speaking terms in the years since calling it quits – until now, that is.
“First and foremost, I’m really happy to have my borther back in my life,” Rich Robinson said in a statement. “To be able to play music again together and celebrate the first record we made as kids, is a gift. To have these songs stand up after 30 years is something I could’ve never fathomed.”
Shake Your Money Maker catapulted the Southern rockers onto the scene and remains their best selling record to date. It earned them No. 1 hits “Hard to Handle” and “She Talks to Angels,” while setting them up for a successful career throughout much of the 1990s. Fans will be able to hear all 11 tracks from the LP, plus some of the Crowes’ later hits like “Sting Me,” “Remedy” and “Hotel Illness.”
