Shawn Mendes reveals dates for upcoming world tour

Shawn Mendes has unveiled dates for his upcoming world tour, set to kick off in Spring 2019. The singer-songwriter will visit over four dozen cities across two continents while supporting his upcoming third album.

Mendes will begin the global trek with a 24-date European leg, beginning next March in Amsterdam. He will perform in Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy and Spain among other countries, and close out the overseas trip with a two-night stint at London’s O2 Arena. He will then take some time off before resuming the tour in June 2019, kicking off the North American leg in Portland on June 12. It will extend through August, making stops in major cities like San Diego, Denver, St. Louis, Dallas and Pittsburgh along the way. Scheduled stops in Mendes’ native Canada include Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Montreal.

Shawn Mendes: The Tour comes in support of Mendes’ upcoming self-titled album, due out May 25. The LP will feature guest features from fellow breakout artists Julia Michaels and Khalid, the latter appearing on Mendes’ latest single “Youth.” Mendes and his fans are hoping to repeat the success of his first two albums, both of which achieved Platinum sales certification and topped charts in several countries, including the U.S. and Canada.

News of a tour was hardly a shock for Mendes’ devoted fans. The singer had been teasing across his social media pages when dates would be announced, leaving them to eagerly for the official confirmation to come through Mendes’ Instagram story. A unique graphic was shared every few minutes on the platform for every tour stop on the itinerary, taking over two hours for the full list of dates to be revealed.

The “In My Blood” singer will get a proper year off from extensive touring, after spending three straight years on the road supporting his first two albums from 2014-2017. While he will be taking a step back in 2018, fans can still catch Mendes performing at select events this summer, including iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango in Los Angeles next month and Milwaukee’s annual Summerfest during July 4 weekend.
