My Chemical Romance is sticking around for a bit. Just days after announcing their first reunion show in six years, the band has added more gigs to their schedule.
The emo giant – who split in 2013 – announced they will play select dates in March 2020 to mark their comeback. They will headline the Australian and Japanese editions of the Download Festival, as well as a stand-alone gig in New Zealand. The new dates follow the announcement of an MCR reunion set to take place in Los Angeles next month. That show at the Shrine Expo Hall quickly sold out, much to the band’s surprise.
“It is truly unbelievable to us the happiness we have experienced over the past two days,” they wrote on social media. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the warm welcome back. We truly did not expect this.”
My Chemical Romance will share the stage with fellow rockers Jimmy Eat World on all the upcoming international gigs, while their LA concert is expected to be a triumphant headlining set to mark their much-anticipated return. There is no word yet if MCR is headed for a studio comeback or if they will continue to play nostalgia-filled sets worldwide. Regardless, fans will eat up any bone the band throws them.
