The Eagles to Perform Full “Hotel California” Album in Las Vegas Shows

The Eagles only have two North American shows planned in 2019, so they are pulling out all the stops. The legendary band will perform their classic 1976 album Hotel California in its entirety back-to-back nights at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, Live Nation announced today. The Eagles Las Vegas shows, set for September 27 and 28, will mark the first time they’ve performed the full hit record in concert.

“Hotel California” has become the band’s signature song and a staple at every live show. However, many other songs from the album of the same name have not been performed since the band’s original Hotel California Tour in the mid 70’s. For their only U.S. shows this year, the band – currently comprised of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – promise two-must sets featuring all ten tracks from the 1976 record as well as their greatest hits.

Hotel California is currently the third-best-selling U.S. album in history, according to the RIAA. The Eagles’ greatest hits album – also released in 1976 and ironically excluding “Hotel California” – was recently named the best-selling album of all time with more than 38 million copies sold in the U.S. alone.

The Eagles Las Vegas shows mark yet another high in the band’s recent successes. Following the 2016 death of founding member Glenn Frey, Henley expressed doubt that the group would perform again. That all changed when they headlined the annual Classic West Festival in July 2017 with new recruits Gill and Frey’s son Deacon. The performance garnered overwhelming praise, prompting the band to launch a world tour last year.
