Coachella Weekend Two Tickets See Usual Price Drop but Remain in Demand

Coachella’s final weekend is now upon us and brings with it a tamer sense of excitement. Last weekend, the festival sent music fans worldwide into a frenzy as it saw the debut of Donald Glover’s film project with Rihanna Guava Island, Ariana Grande reunite *NSYNC (sans Justin Timberlake), and a slew of other headline-making moments. With the allure of surprise now gone, Coachella Weekend Two tickets are cheaper in price per usual trend.

Coachella Ticket Prices: Weekend One Vs. Weekend Two

This year, Coachella Weekend Two tickets saw a nearly 24 percent decrease in price compared to Weekend One. Our sales database projects that on average, festival-goers paid $562 for a three-day pass to the final weekend compared to the $737 average price tag of Weekend One. It’s the latest string of a recurring price trend with Coachella Weekend Two tickets. Since 2013, fans have seen an average savings of $142 when opting to attend the later dates. The main reason attributed to the drop is the spoiler of already knowing the set from the prior weekend after months of build-up and anticipation.

Overall Coachella Ticket Price Trends

However, while Coachella Weekend Two tickets are once again cheaper in 2019, they continue to grow in demand as part of a larger trend. Ticket prices for the Indio, California-based bash have been on the steady rise in the past six years, regardless of date. This year’s 20th anniversary edition saw prices at their peak, perhaps attributed to the growing social influence of the festival along with the evolving choice of headliners. The monumental star power of Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga taking the stage in recent years has drove up ticket prices far more than in 2013 when Phoenix, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Stone Roses headlined.

Average prices may also be higher this year, as slightly more buyers went for VIP tickets rather than general admission passes. However, those figures largely remain on par with recent years, as demonstrated in the graph below.

Consumer Buying Timeline

As a whole, Coachella is one of the most exclusive music festivals in the world that sells out within hours of the lineup announcement. This year has shaken up secondary market trends to take away from that once-overwhelming exclusivity. Less consumers jumped at the chance at tickets in the weeks following the official lineup release in January. Instead, more opted to buy within a month of the April 12 start date and a select few waited until Coachella was here to snag their tickets.

With another jam-packed three days of musical thrills ahead, it’s not too late to grab Coachella Weekend Two tickets. Find them here to experience the close-out of it’s 20th anniversary.
