Billy Joel has notched plenty of career milestones and honors, but he will soon be able to add one more to his list. The Piano Man will headline the first concert held at Baltimore’s Oriole Park at Camden Yards on July 26.
The exciting news was made by the Baltimore Orioles organization, who have called Camden Yards their home since 1992. The O’s have been strict with their policy in keeping the park exclusive to baseball events, but now they are ready to change that tune to draw in even bigger crowds as a versatile venue.
“Billy Joel and Oriole Park at Camden Yards are leaders across the entertainment world in selling tickets, driving tourism and creating one-of-a-kind memories, and the Orioles are thrilled to make Camden Yards home to an iconic artist who generations of Americans have grown up with and who is still setting records today,” said Orioles Executive Vice President John Angelos.

Angelos stated that with Oriole Park’s new partnership with Live Nation, Joel’s July 26 concert will likely be the first of many.
With Oriole Park taking a backseat to outside entertainment for so many years, M&T Bank Stadium – home of the Baltimore Ravens – has been the city’s primary large-scale concert venue. It can hold over 70,000 patrons, making it ideal for big-name headliners like Beyoncé, U2 and Billy Joel himself (he played the stadium in 2015).
Camden Yards is just one of many ballpark visits Joel will make in the coming months. So far, his touring schedule also includes gigs at Chase Field in March, Miller Park in April, and Citizens Bank Park in May. After his historic concert in Baltimore, the Piano Man will then headline Coors Field in August and return to Fenway Park in September.
A native New Yorker, he has also played sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium throughout his career and famously performed the final concert at Shea Stadium in Queens before its demolition in 2008. He continues to be a steady performer in New York and is continuously adding shows to his wildly popular residency at Madison Square Garden.
