Prepare yourself, world. It’s finally happening. After days of incessant rumors and speculation, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have answered their fans’ prayers and officially announced their On The Run II Tour. The long-awaited trek will bring the couple to major stadiums across Europe and North America throughout the summer.
The pair will kick off the joint tour June 6 in Cardiff, U.K., the first of 15 shows overseas. They’ll return to the U.S. six weeks later and launch the North American leg in Cleveland on July 25. A total of 21 shows across the U.S. and Canada are on the itinerary, including stops in Atlanta, San Diego, Washington DC, and Bey’s hometown of Houston.
Confirmation of the tour comes as no surprise to fans, who first noticed a slip-up on Beyoncé’s Facebook Events page last week that marked her July 30 show in Philly as a dual gig with her hubby. An official Ticketmaster listing for the show also featured both artists on the billing. The posts were since deleted but spread like wildfire over social media and sent fans into a frenzy, eagerly awaiting the couple to confirm the news.
Music’s reigning power couple launched their first co-headlining tour in 2014, which saw them sell out each of the 19 stadiums they visited. During those shows, they shared intimate details about their often-private life, including never-before-seen photos of their secret wedding and birth of daughter Blue Ivy. Now, many are left wondering how personal the couple will get during the On The Run II tour. Each of their subsequent albums (Lemonade for her, 4:44 for him) addressed the subject of Jay-Z’s infidelity, leading their marriage to be the topic of public scrutiny. Despite this, Bey and Jay appear to have only gotten stronger – they welcomed twins Sir and Rumi last summer and continue to squash rumors of a potential split.
Prior to the tour’s start, Beyoncé will take the stage at Coachella as a headliner at the acclaimed festival. Her performance is over a year in the making after nabbing the coveted slot in 2017 only to have to back out on doctor’s order due to her pregnancy. It will mark her first live performance since the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Jay-Z spent the fall and early winter on his 4:44 Tour though the schedule was kept brief compared to previous tours due to the recent birth of the twins.
