Believe it or not, baseball season is quickly winding down and the hunt for October glory is just around the corner. With the cut-off for post-season contention looming, teams across the league are going back to basics, and apparently, so are their ballparks. A majority of August MLB giveaways feature timeless fan-favorites like ball caps, T-shirts, towels and bobbleheads. Check out all the top handouts you can expect this month.
Casual fans can pick up various player bobbleheads at ballparks in a number of cities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Milwaukee and Tampa. However, the never-out-of-style baseball cards prove to be the month’s top giveaway. The Dodgers, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Pirates, Mets, Angels, Astros, Blue Jays, Yankees, Orioles, and Reds are all handing out the collector’s favorite all month long.
For the diehard baseball fans, there are select special anniversary memorabilia items given from a number of teams, including a replica of the Yankees’ 1998 World Series Championship Ring, which is one of the few giveaways the Bronx Bombers have on deck this month. However, one of the best August MLB giveaways comes out of San Francisco’s AT&T Park when the Giants host the Pirates on August 11. The Giants will celebrate legend Barry Bonds with the official retirement of his #25 jersey. Fans in attendance will each receive a commemorative #25 cap for the occasion. Bonds split his 22-year career between the Giants and Pirates, and hit a staggering 762 homers during his time in the Majors.
Other notable handouts this month include lunch bags, beach towels, specialty shirts and jerseys.
