Get ready to listen to the music on next summer’s Doobie Brothers anniversary tour. In honor of their 50 years together, the band will reunite with former frontman Michael McDonald for a massive North American outing. <\/p>\n

The trek will get underway June 9 in West Palm Beach, Florida. It will stretch four months and wrap in Houston come October. Along the way, the rockers will headline top venues in Raleigh, Nashville, Denver, Seattle, Chicago and Phoenix, among others. A total of 30 cities make up the itinerary, including a lone Canadian gig in Toronto.<\/p>\n

McDonald will return to the lineup for the first time in nearly 25 years. He was a mainstay of the group from 1975 to 1982, and returned on occasion for special contributions. However, the renowned singer has not appeared on stage with former bandmates Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons and John McFee since the mid-1990s.<\/p>\n

2020 not only marks 50 years since their formation, but perhaps their chance to seal their music legacy. The band notched their first nomination to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this fall, and if selected, would be honored in the spring of 2020 – just in time for their landmark tour.<\/p>\n

“We’re all honored to be nominated,” Johnston told Billboard<\/em><\/a>. “I’m sure we’ve all paused to reflect, and I think I speak for all the other guys when I say that it seems rather odd we haven’t been selected before. But at the same time we don’t take it for granted and we are honored to be nominated, and if we can just carry it all the way to getting in it would be awesome.”<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the group will continue to perform regularly. They’ll close their 2019 schedule with several more shows in November and launch an eight-night residency at the Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas in February.<\/p>\n
