Rock ‘n’ roll legend Bob Seger is ready to leave behind life on the road. The singer announced plans to embark on a final, farewell tour that will span six months and bring the Detroit native to over two dozen cities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Seger and his Silver Bullet Band will launch the Travelin’ Man tour in Grand Rapids, Mich. on November 21 and make stops in major markets like Cleveland, Nashville, Seattle and Phoenix before concluding the trek in Houston on May 2. A total of 26 shows are on the itinerary, though additional dates in California and Florida, plus Las Vegas and Vancouver, are said to be added<\/a> within the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The farewell tour, while bittersweet, is not entirely surprising seeing as all but ten of the tour dates were announced over a year ago and are serving as make-up dates. Seger, now 73, had his Runaway Train tour sidetracked last year when he suffered a ruptured disc that required emergency spinal surgery. He was unable to resume touring for months while promising fans he’d make it up to them. Despite the setback, the legendary rocker is now back on his feet and ready to finish out his last stretch of performances.<\/p>\n

With a career spanning over half a century under his belt, Bob Seger is now the latest in a long string of music icons to have announced their retirement this year. Paul Simon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John have all planned farewell tours, while seasoned performers like Kenny Rogers and Neil Diamond were forced to cancel shows on their own final treks for various health reasons.<\/p>\n

While this may be the end of Seger’s touring days, he has not ruled out the possibility of continuing to record music.<\/p>\n
