{"id":11171,"date":"2024-05-10T12:46:34","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T16:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ticketclub.live\/?p=11171"},"modified":"2024-05-10T12:46:34","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T16:46:34","slug":"weekly-artist-spotlight-home-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/blog\/weekly-artist-spotlight-home-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Artist Spotlight: Home Free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you think of mainstream a cappella music, names like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/concerts\/pentatonix-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pentatonix<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/concerts\/straight-no-chaser-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Straight No Chaser<\/a> may come to mind, not to mention the <em>Pitch Perfect<\/em> movie franchise. One act quickly on their way to joining that elite group of names is Home Free, a five-member vocal group and this week&#8217;s Spotlight Artist.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Home Free formed in 2000 but did not become nationally known until 2013 when they appeared on NBC&#8217;s a cappella singing competition <em>The Sing Off<\/em>, the show which also launched Pentatonix&#8217;s lucrative career. With a particular interest in country music, the group impressed audiences with performances of country hits from Lonestar, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/concerts\/florida-georgia-line-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida Georgia Line<\/a>, and Johnny Cash, and they went on to win the show&#8217;s fourth season and a Sony record deal.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Home Free - Ring of Fire (featuring Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix) [Johnny Cash Cover]\" width=\"685\" height=\"385\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0l3dsHCScxU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Their 2014 album <em>Crazy Life<\/em> helped keep them on the map, as it fared well on both the Billboard Hot 200 chart and the U.S. Country Albums chart, peaking at no. 40 and no. 8, respectively. The mainstream debut allowed Home Free to create a place for a cappella in country music by including covers of hits from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/search?q=hunter+hayes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hunter Hayes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/concerts\/josh-turner-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Josh Turner<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/concerts\/zac-brown-band-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zac Brown Band<\/a>. They also showcased their ability to take on songs outside the genre by recording a cover of Avicii&#8217;s EDM smash hit &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Bbzrs_lOgKI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wake Me Up<\/a>,&#8221; and have released subsequent singles of other radio-friendly pop hits like One Direction&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Oh6UJTSc35M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Story of My Life<\/a>,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketclub.com\/search?q=ed+sheeran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ed Sheeran<\/a>&#8216;s &#8220;Castle on the Hill&#8221; and Justin Timberlake&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SZbV8PEayUY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Can&#8217;t Stop the Feeling<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the three years since, the Minnesota-based group has put out a second country album along with two holiday albums, performed across North America and Europe on five headlining tours, and have much more success on the horizon. They have made adjustments to their original lineup, and now consist of lead vocalist Austin Brown (tenor), Rob Lundquist (tenor), Adam Chance (baritone), Tim Foust (bass) and Adam Rupp (percussion).<\/p>\n<p>Showing no signs of slowing down, the guys are slated to put out another album before the year&#8217;s end, and are currently on the road to perform original tracks, their most popular covers and more.
